Fun yoga challenge poses are all over the Internet! Check out 17 of the extremely fulfilling, enjoyable postures you can do by yourself or with your partner.

Anyone who thinks yoga is only for calm, serene people, well, is dead wrong. For the years I’ve been teaching, I’ve come across all sorts of people – old, young, professionals, homemakers, students, military veterans – you name it. I even get invitations for special yoga classes from companies and families.

17 Crazy, Meaningful Yoga Postures Worth A Try

Yoga is universal. It’s also not dull, as you may believe. Just search about yoga challenge poses and you’ll get what I mean. Below are some of the thousands (I’m serious!) of yoga challenge poses I’ve come across online, especially on Instagram and YouTube. Of course, it wouldn’t be as much fun if you just look at the photos. Try them yourself and see if these are postures you can do:

1. Camel Pose

A lot of my classes feature a Camel Pose, which can burn fats around the thighs and reduce pain in the back and shoulders. But this particular Camel Pose is fun because it is for a good cause. Head to Yogabjorn’s Instagram to find out more about #branok2016 challenge.

2. Acro Inversion Pose

Ask anyone who’s ever tried acro yoga, and they’d probably tell you it’s awesome! Expect to get stretched, twisted, lifted, and bent to achieve the best pose. However, more than the poses, it’s the feeling of failing and succeeding with friends that make them all worth it.

3. Shiva Squat Pose

Squats are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G for the glutes, and it’s one of the best ways to burn a lot of fat for only a very short amount of time. Not only that, they can improve digestion and blood circulation. Here’s Cassandra Justine doing the Shiva Squat to usher the #chakraflo yoga challenge.

4. Handstand Pose

Handstands are great for muscle toning, core strengthening, and balance. And you can play around with them too! Just look at Hannah’s video as she shifts her balance using yoga blocks. Isn’t it cool?

5. Goddess Pose

Are you one of those who sit for hours every single day? It’s time to move those hips, shoulders, groin, and chest with a gorgeous Goddess Pose courtesy of Elena as part of #asanaandbeyond challenge.

6. Floating Partridge Pose

A beautiful yoga posture that does plenty of good things to the body: abdominal muscles are strengthened, arm muscles are toned, shoulders and chest are stretched, and the leg muscles are improved. A great fun Asana by Shauna for #asanaandbeyond challenge.

7. Plank And Bird Pose

I love couple yoga (though I still have to convince my husband to try it with me). Here’s one of the most popular YouTubers, with more than 5 million subscribers, sweating it out with Plank and Bird yoga for girlfriend yoga challenge.

As if a regular plank isn’t challenging enough, you have this pose! But I guess that’s what makes it really fun to do, you know, trying to gain your balance and improving mind clarity and muscular strength while soaking in the nice warmth of the sun.

9. Downward-Facing Dog Pose

Usually, when we think of Downward-Facing Dog Pose, we think about doing it alone. But these girls are letting us know we can do more from a rather simple move. We can build a pyramid!

10. Cat Cow Pose

11. Scorpion Pose

Although the Scorpion Pose is one of the difficult yoga challenge poses you can ever try, it’s nice to do if you’re feeling burned out. It increases blood flow to the brain, so it reenergizes you and enhances your alertness. It also provides a nice stretch of the back and shoulder muscles, where you normally feel body tension.

 12. Eight Angle Pose

I sometimes call this a push-up torture, though I don’t say it aloud because I don’t want to scare my students. The fun part comes when you can lift your body off the mat without losing your balance and hold this posture for at least five breaths. It can make you think you can do anything!

13. Balancing Stick

Here’s Angie Hanchett in Death Valley doing a Balancing Stick as proof even if you’re in the driest part of North America, you can still do yoga – and do it with grace and finesse. To see more of these, just look for #outsideelements challenge on Instagram.

14. Straddle Split

Yes, you can take your yoga postures and splits in the middle of an alley or street. This posture, by the way, which is part of #namastayinyoursplit challenge, is important if you wish to exercise the inner thighs, increasing the range of motion of your legs.

15. Monkey Pose

The waters, the sunset, the alone time – nothing is more special than this. Here’s Amber’s contribution to the #mauiyogachallenge. In case you’re wondering what she’s really doing, it’s called SUP (stand-up paddleboard) yoga, where, you guessed it, you do yoga on the board.

16. Straddle Headstand

Can you do a headstand on a paddleboard? Of course! Just look at Matt doing it with great balance and focus. His Instagram post comes along with instructions on how to do it, but you can just repeat this short video clip if you need more ideas.

17. Warrior II Pose
